POLL - Maybe the most famous Greek psychedelic folk rock band of the late 60's early 70's era. Members: Kostas Tournas (guitar-vocals), Robert Williams (guitar-vocals), Stavros Logaridis (bass-vocals) and Kostas Papaioannou (drums). "Poll" was a pioneer of Greek pop music in the late 1960s. Poll enjoyed a number of nationwide hits, such as "Anthrope Agapa ", an anti-war song, composed by Tournas and "Ela Ilie Mou", composed by Tournas, Williams. While the lyrics of "Poll" were composed exclusively in Greek, the band's name was an English word rendered in Greek characters, Πολλ. This group had some commercial success in Greece with their melodic hippie folk-rock full of acoustic guitars, bongos and vocal harmonies. Their first album (Anthrope) was with some tasty fuzz guitars, bouzouki and sitar. While this came out in a sleeve made out of sacking, their second (Poll) included 12 pages of comics with Poll-members starring as super heroes. They disbanded after this.
THIS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE GREEK BAND EVEN AFTER 40 YEARS. I WAS 12 WHEN I LISTENED THEIR SONGS AND I STUCK WITH THEM. THE LYRICS ARE IN GREEK.
