B.B. King - 1980 - Live 'Now Appearing' At Ole Miss 1 & 2 [256]
King and the University of Mississippi audience rise above their troubles for a spell in the late 1970s-purportedly captured on this two-disc package. The main man sings evenly and sprays blue tones with typical onstage intensity, handling repertoire mainstays and tunes recently recorded with the Crusaders. Fine if you were there; no one at the show was subjected to extra horns, a string section, Brazilian percussion, and other execrable 'sweetenings" added later in the New York recording studio.

B.B.King & Bobby Bland - 1974 - Together For The First Time... Live [256]
That's "together for the first time" on disc, of course. Bland and King have shared stages since the '50s, when they were both members of the Beale Streeters, the legendary Memphis blues commune. In any case, this 1974 concert catches both artists at the peak of their game, recorded LIVE in front of an extremely appreciative audience. The bond of these two long time friends is obvious in their free-flowing dialog and makes for a comfortable evening of easy listening.
