Flying in from Austin, Texas, Dertybird lays down its brand of blues based rock 'n roll on their latest album, Pure Analog. Following a self-titled EP and months of regional touring, this debut full length effort was recorded in early 2009. Upon first listening, the influence of the Allman Brothers, Warren Haynes, Gov't Mule, and Black Crowes is immediately apparent. But, after a repeat listening, the real Dertybird sound becomes evident. This is certainly a band that knows its roots and know how to use that influence to make it sound fresh and new.

It is true that the versions here aren't radically different from the studio versions -- the little differences will only be of interest to guitar fanatics, who will be able to spot the differences between solos -- but there's enough energy and fire to his performances to make it worthwhile for Hoey fans who aren't guitar fanatics.
Big Walter Horton - 1980 - Little Boy Blue [256]
A 1980 live recording in Boston. Working with a pickup band consisting of Ronnie Earl on guitar, Mudcat Ward on bass, and Ola Dixon on drums, Horton catches fire and quite simply blows his heart out. The album features some of Horton's best late-period playing.
27 Miles - 2008 - Bringin' It Back [320]
27 Miles was formed in 2001 as The 454 Band, but changed their name to 27 Miles in 2005 due legal issues. With unique blend of Southern rock, metal, blues and country, 27 Miles is part of the new Southern rock underground, which has been rising in the States in past ten years and the band has found lot of new fans since their debut album, "Bringin' It Back". At the moment 27 Miles are Kevin “Solly” Solomon on lead vocals and rhythm/lead guitar, Donny Kulp on rhythm/lead guitar, Jason “JB” Benfield on Bass and Kurt Custer on Drums and back-up vocals.
