Big Al Carson - 2002 - Take Your Drunken Ass Home [256]

Everyone has thought it on occasion, when a drunk spoils the party for everyone else, and now Big Al Carson has written a song that expresses what everyone was thinking. "Take Your Drunken Ass Home" was written by Carson extemporaneously one night, as the blues musician and his band were repeatedly interrupted during their set by an inebriated patron at a New Orleans bar. Since then, the song has become a favorite during the Carnival season, culminating in its biggest day, Mardi Gras, with plenty of people needing this kind of advice. Music veteran Carson has chosen the humorous tune as the title cut of his 2002 CD release. Playing a regular gig for years at the Funky Pirate Bar on Bourbon Street, Big Al Carson has seen quite a few patrons like the one who inspired this song. It is just like the good-natured singer to take it all in stride by making an entertaining song out of the situation: crowd control big easy-style. Some other songs on the album reflect the New Orleans party spirit as well.

Mitch Laddie - 2010 - This Time Around [256]

Mitch Laddie is the hot, new, young British Blues slinger, still shy of his twentieth birthday, and this is his debut album on the well respected Provogue label. Like many youngster it was the late Stevie Ray Vaughan who kickstarted his interest in the Blues, followed by the Three Kings: B.B, Freddie and Albert. Naturally, he formed a band - Vanilla Moon - and started playing the covers circuit in his North East of England home, at motorcycle rallies, festivals and pubs. The material is made up of ten originals, which definitely show songwriting strength, along with a dreadful cover of 'Papa's got A Brand New Bag' and a much better live rendition of B.B. King's 'Rock Me Baby', which was recorded live with Walter Trout's band at the Opera House in York.

Greg Douglass plays guitar for more than 30 years now and this here is no attempt to cover these years in full detail. Nevertheless it is an attempt to throw some more light on one of the most important Bay Area guitarists. Greg has been a member of many bands, toured and recorded with various of them: Terry Dolan & The Pirates, Steve Miller Band, Greg Kihn Band, Eddie Money, Van Morrison, Tom Johnston, Peter Rowan, John Cipollina, Hot Tuna, Country Joe McDonald - to name a few.Taxim released Greg's first solo album 'Maelstrom' in 1993. Greg plays acoustic guitar on this album. Confusing for some who only knew Greg for his outstanding electric guitar work.
