Alamo Leal - 1997 - Rythm Oil [256]

With almost 30 years of international career, Brazilian born musician Alamo Leal is very acclaimed on the European Circuit of blues. Native from Rio de Janeiro, he grown up listening, since he was twelve years old, the rhythms that became the major influences of the first blues players in Mississippi, at the decades of 30,40 and 50. Artists like House, Skip James, Fred MacDowell and Robert Johnson, without forget Muddy Waters, B. B. King, T. Bone Walker e Ray Charles. At the end of the 60/s, Alamo started to explore those influences and moved to London in 1971, where his professional career began. During the 70/s, he assimilated this music form and ascended as a dedicated artist, always trying to be in contact with experienced musicians. His first solo album “Rhythm Oil”, released by Armadillo-Records was elected the album of the year by the English magazine Blueprint (1998), and his group, Alamo Leal Band, was considered the best foreign group in Netherlands, in 1999.
