There Goes the Neighborhood, like much of Roomful's oeuvre, is a fairly standard set of blues offerings with more than a hint of rock, dripping with horns and studded with blistering guitar and piano solos. There's an appropriate mix of mid-tempo tunes (Backseat Blues, Blue, Blue World, the title track), up-tempo rockers (Just Like Dynamite, She's Mine), and slower, moodier pieces (Lost Mind, I Smell Trouble, The Comeback), though all the material is focused on light-heartedness and entertainment. If there's not much innovation here, that's not exactly a problem; Roomful hums along like a well-oiled machine, every part in place and never missing a beat.
